CHAPTER I
INTRODUCTION
This chapter substantially discusses on background
of study, scope of study, statements of problem, objectives of study, benefit
of study, title definition of terms, and outline of study.
1.1
Background
of Study
Teachers like all of us know is typical one who
dedicate his/her life to educate person also dedicate his/her life in the
educational field to develop future generation intelligence. Aside from that
information about teachers, some people began to ask what is ideal teachers is,
pedagogically, professionally, personally, and socially.
Some also wonder how the teachers manage
themselves to get close to their students and how they capable on improving
their students achievement. This kind of question then began running on my own
tough, and to try to answer that kind of question this research is done. First
let we see who the teachers are.
According to Great Dictionary of Indonesian
(2005: 377), the
so-called teacher is a person who his/her job
(His/her livelihood, profession) to teach. If
seen the definition of teachers according
to Great Dictionary of Indonesian, it can be said to be still
too short and
may not yet be able to be said to have explained in
detail about what the teacher is.
Therefore depend on the Law of The
Republic Indonesia Number 14 in 2005 about
Teachers and Lecturers
Chapter I General Provisions Section 1 says, Teachers are professional educators with the primary task to educate, teach, guide, directing,
training, assess, and evaluate students on education early childhood, formal
education, primary education, and
secondary education.
While according to Oemar Hamalik,
teachers are the
person responsible in planning and
guiding the students to perform learning
activities in order to achieve the desired growth
and development (Oemar Hamalik,
2003).
So when it concluded in simple terms it can be said if the teachers are a person or individual concerned to facilitate the transfer of knowledge from a variety of existing learning resources, which is used for the benefit of learners, whose goal is the achievement of the knowledge transfer.

While in the public way of view, they
used to see the teacher as a person or individual concerned to
implement education be it in schools,
mosques, or other
places
which facilitates the transfer of knowledge. All parties, both expert and lay agree if the teacher plays an important role in developing human resources through education.

From the conclusion above then the question
began to up hand, those question that mentioned in first line about the typical
of ideal teachers, pedagogically, professionally, personally, and socially. In
order to answer it let see some definition of typical ideal teachers first.
Ideal teacher, what is ideal teacher do it’s
about appearance or how smart he/ she are. Some describe ideal teacher
basically on what they thought for themselves that ideal teacher is this and
that depend on how the teacher act toward them so here I’ll try to describe the
ideal teachers are.
Ideal teachers are teachers who are able
to be a role
model and always provide exemplary for his/ her students. His/ her knowledge is such as springs
that never running out. The more it gets taken become more clear the water. It flows limply relieving the thirsty of
anybody who drank on it.
Ideal teachers are teachers
who mastering his/ her knowledge well.
One who able in explains what he/ she were
teaches well. Liked by the learners because the teach which catchy and easy to understand. His /her knowledge were flowing and
keep blossom in
the hearts of their students. That is how ideal
teacher should be.
Now let see the ideal teacher depend on the
competences. Depend on competence there are more or less four basic
orientations which is pedagogically, professionally, personally, also socially.
Firstly before we decide to discuss further more about ideal teacher
pedagogically, professionally, personally, also socially. Let’s see the meaning
of pedagogically, professionally, personally, also socially.
Pedagogically or Pedagogic competence is the
teacher’s ability on how to manage the students learn. Professionally or
Professional competence is the teacher’s mastering the learning materials that
will be delivered broad and deep. Personally or Personal competence is how the
teacher’s reflecting his/ her positive attitude toward the students which aims
to be imitated by them. Socially or Social competence is how the teacher’s
communicate be it with the students, co-workers, student’s parent/ guardian,
and the community around.
Ideal teachers pedagogically according to
Sudrajat, Akhmad. “Aspek dan Indikator Kompetensi Pedagogik Guru.” 29 January
2012 from http://akhmadsudrajat.wordpress.com/2012/01/29/kompetensi-pedagogilk-guru/;
said that there are 7 aspect and 45 indicator, but here I just going to give you
the 7 aspects, which is mastering the characteristics of learners/ students, mastering the learning theories
and principles of learning that educates, curriculum
development, learning activities that educates, the potential development of
learners/ students, communication with students, also assessment and Evaluation
Ideal teachers professionally according to Al-ghazali.
“Sosok Guru Profesional yang Ideal Menurut al-Ghazali.” 27 September 2013 from http://sorayadwikartika.blogspot.com/2013/09/sosok-guru-profesional-yang-ideal.html/;
said the ideal professional teacher is a teacher who has smart sense, perfect
morals, and physically strong. Have a great responsibility in teaching,
guiding, and directing the learners/students. Be able to understand the
difference psychiatric, intellectual ability of the students and can provide
materials for students systematically. Have a sense of affection for his
students, not using the diatribe, invective, and other violence in the learning.
Understand the differences potential in each student, as well as receiving the
shortage of students’ potential by treating the students according to their
potentials.
Ideal teachers personally according to http://yatimurjhanie.blogspot.com/2012/01/kepribadian-guru.html;
11 January 2012, said Ideal teacher personally is teachers who like to help the
school work, explained the lessons clearly and deeply also uses good examples
in teaching. Jolly and happy, have a sense of humor and likes to joke also
receive the jock back on him. Friendly with the students, give attention and
understand to their students, collaborate
with students. Decisive, able to master classes and can evoke
sense of respect for the students. No favoritism, no nagging, denounced and
sarcastic, able to be example for students and the society around.
Ideal teachers socially according to journal by
Eka L. Koncara, S.Pd.I[1], said that in order to beco[1]me
the ideal teachers socially teachers should have the ability to interact and
communicate with peers to enhance the professional capabilities; the ability to
recognize and understand the functions of each institution and the community;
ability to collaborate both individually and in groups.
At this time around the teachers and students
relationship quiet become more distant, as example is when the teachers ask if
there are difficulties in the lesson students always pretend to be silent
although they actually may find that difficulties. The distant can be caused by
the student is shy or to embarrassment with the other student or even afraid if
the teacher was not acceptable if he/ is ask the question. In other word the
relation between teacher and student were not so good to begin with.
Because of that it’s important to know what the
teacher personalities are. A teacher should have some personalities which can
make him be a teacher and it is,
1)
Improving
faith and piety according to self religious affiliate,
2)
Responsible and have / develop
in confidence,
3)
Developing considerate and tolerance
attitude,
4)
Open minded and democratic,
5)
Persistent
and resilient in implementing the educational process,
6)
Being able
to appreciate the overall educational purposes,
7)
Respect
each other in the
social life,
8)
Understanding the various aspects of
self positively and negatively, and
9)
Be able to develop the profession as an innovator and creator.
The personalities above can be something that
may become a way on how a teacher can get better relation with the students. Even
make him / herself being a good role play for the students.
Now after we know that kind of personalities
the new question come and that is about how teachers can teach ideally. To
teach ideally a teacher must Identify and define the specifications
and qualification changes in behavior and personality of the students accordance with the expected.
Choosing a system of teaching and learning approach based on the aspirations and views of the community.
Selecting and establishing
procedures, methods, and techniques of teaching and learning that is considered the most appropriate
and effective so
that it can be used as a handle
by teachers in the discharge of his teaching activities. The last is establishing norms and
the minimum success or success criteria and
standards that can be used as
guidance by the teacher in evaluating
the results of teaching and learning
which in turn will be used as feedback for
concerned instructional improvement
system as a whole.
On movie the ideal teacher was pictured as
